Winter sunflower wall hangings in the works.

It’s cold in the studio. What’s a potter to do! I manage to get into my “the floor’s not insulated, yet I have heat ” studio a little bit each day and work on projects that take a shorter time to accomplish. Presently, I’m making Sunflower Wall Hangings. They are approximately 15″ in diameter and [...]

Lower Town Art and Music Fest

The past weekend I participated at the Lower Town Art and Music Fest in Paducah, KY. Even though the weather was calling for storms, somehow the area dodged it and no rains happened. Lots of people Friday night and Saturday–Sunday was slow, probably due to storms to the immediate south and the high and gusty winds. [...]
Interview “Digital Twist on Artsfest”

I had the honor to be interviewed byKOLR10 news for Springfield, MO this weekend. See the whole piece at http://ozarksfirst.com/fulltext/?nxd_id=451287
Selected tidbits from NCECA- National council on Education for the Ceramic Arts

Returned home from a visually packed adventure in Tampa, FL. NCECA had their 45th annual conference and this was the first time I attended. WOW! Lots of pottery, demos and information to spark the creativity. After a 4 hour drive into Tampa/St. Petersburg, (and after the 12 hour drive the day before) Judy and [...]
The “Puking” Chickens are finished!

When I opened the kiln this morning, I was more than pleased to see that the little chicks and puking hens made it through the glaze firing! I even made a few multi-colored “eggs” with the left over parts. The irony of today is, I have a real hen in a cat carrier in the [...]
First show a success!

An Art Affair,a fine art and craft show, held March 12-13, in Springfield, IL, was a success for me. Unfortunately, crowds were small, which can happen during a first time show. I have a nice following in the Springfield area, and I’m happy they came out and supported me. A big thanks to them! Thanks [...]
Milestone today!

Made my 100th (and 101th) sale in my Etsy shop today! Two mugs going to San Luis Obispo, CA later this afternoon!
New work from the last firing

On suggestions from my facebook page fans, I came up with the frog cup and saucer and the all purpose wall pocket. I’ve never really made the wall pockets before, but it was a lot of fun and I plan to make more! If you are interested in any of these pieces, email me claylickcreek@gmail.com [...]
…and now Little Chick Cups to go with the pitchers

On the suggestion of another potter, I made little chick cups to go with the pitchers. I have no idea if they will be functional. I do know they are fun and I was giggling while making them!
Chicken Pitchers

Here’s my newest creations in the studio. I wanted to make pitchers for a while, especially one in a sort of traditional majolica rooster pitcher way like my mother uses for holiday dinners. Fortunately, I’m the kind of person who likes something a little more twisted. Hence, the “puking chicken”. Think of gravy coming out the [...]
Back to work in the studio

After a week of below freezing weather and the accompanying inconveniences of frozen slop water, frozen clay and glaze and super frozen hands and toes, I was able to get back out there and make more work. Special tile order and a recreator’s bean pot (I’m trying!) along with a number of bowls and mugs for an upcoming show in [...]

First Glaze firing of 2011

First Glaze firing 2011 I get so excited when opening up a kiln full of new glazed work. This firing was very successful, with lots of new designs and the special platter on the very bottom. The piece is for a exhibit called, “Platters, Poetry, and Prose”. When I was approached to create a piece, [...]
Snowy day at the studio

Snowed most of the day—and it makes everything look so clean and beautiful. My Shepard mix, Ziggy, is posing heroically in front of my studio. Not much work today, Thursday’s are busy at the teaching art at the school.
Appreciation Photo

This is Little Leo, Dominique’s sweet dachshund. Recently, she purchased my dachshund wall hanging and is pleased with my work. I think the next ones I make will look even more like Leo. Thanks for the inspiration!
